Make your mark in the Sydney events calendar

With Spring now well under way and the Sydney summer just around the corner, there will be a range of Sydney events happening in the coming weeks and months.
The key to holding an event in Sydney’s warm months is to make a big splash that makes an impression with clients, prospective customers, partners and/or staff. There will be plenty of red carpet events that create a hum and raise a hashtag that trends for an hour or two but to create traction and buzz, you really need to plan your event around a central theme and concept that has an impact.
Here are some key tips to making your mark in the coming Sydney events calendar
Spend time defining and refining exactly what your event is meant to achieve and what the message is that you want to project. Clearly align your brand to your event.
Be daring in designing your event. Being as good as everyone else won’t necessarily brand you as memorable. You have to take a calculated risk to dare to be a little different. One way to achieve this is to make use of original event backdrops that are capable of carrying a theme that is consistent with your event’s messaging and targets. That does not mean you have to reinvent the wheel, look at what your competitors have done and look for ways to better what they do. Don’t copy what has been done before - look to be creative and innovative.
Make your event meaningful - Use clear concise language to frame your event so that your target audience understands exactly what the event is about. Don’t stop there - drive the message home by using a media wall Sydney attendees will notice. It is sure to highlight your message - if you can make use of a catchy easy to remember hashtag that will add to your overall impact.
Make sure that your event is structured to allow your event attendees to network with others and build relationships. Nothing changes unless people respond positively to a set of circumstances. Again, a media wall is a perfect way to enable photo opportunities and social media interaction while giving people a chance to interact and connect.
Consider developing merchandising and giveaways aligned with your event and brand to assist in creating a memorable impression for attendees. Merchandise like bumper stickers, fridge magnets, caps and stationery can be low cost items that will be potentially used after the event and maximise the promotional of the event. There are not too many people who will knock back a freebie. Offering quality giveaways that won’t be perceived as junk but remain relatively inexpensive can be a good way to generate interest in the event.
Look for partnership opportunities with people or businesses that fit naturally. Sydney events make great sponsorship vehicles and there is plenty of potential to create win- win scenarios and expand your reach into new audiences. A committed partner is going to be looking to maximise the benefits from their event participation and this should lead to joint promotional opportunities
The keys to standing out during the Sydney events season are to be clear, consistent, engaging and visually appealing.
